Bawdsey Manor Coast Protection Works

Working as a technical advisor to ENBE Ltd, ICoastConsult completed the design, drawings and planning application for coastal protection works to protect Bawdsey Manor, East Suffolk for PGL Ltd.

The role included technical assessment of coastal processes, design development of a scheme and preparation of a range of planning documents including an Environmental Assessment and Landscape & Visual Impact Statement.

Seal Bay Resort - West Sands Coast Protection

West Sands Coast Protection Scheme

From 2008 to 2015, Ian was Project Director responsible for Atkins Ltd consultancy services to develop, obtain permissions, procure and manage construction for a £15m privately funded coast protection scheme at Selsey.

Seal Bay Coastal Processes Review

In 2022, ICoastConsult completed a detailed coastal processes study to determine the standard of coastal protection at Seal Bay. This review highlights management requirements for the future safety of the Resort.

Seal Bay Annual Review

ICoastConsult undertake an annual review of the West Sands Coast Protection Scheme. A drone survey is completed by Boskalis Westminster and analysed against previous surveys to assess any structural movements and changes in the beaches. Where necessary, remedial actions are arranged.

Medmerry Park - Resort Development

Upgrading Medmerry Park Resort

Working with a range of advisors, ICoastConsult's role was to develop solutions to provide flood protection until 2125 taking account of climate change. The solutions offered a combination of flood bunds and land raising to keep caravans above any flood risk.

3d Design for flood management works

A major factor in the design development was minimising material volumes/costs. Using 3d design tools, the volumes of the raising and bunds were minimised.

Newbiggin Bay Coast Protection Scheme

Undertaking the scheme development and progressing through scheme promotion, planning and delivery, Ian was Project Director on behalf of Atkins Ltd,. the scheme was completed in 2007 and won the Institution of Civl Engineers Best Civil Engineering Proejct Award, 2008.

Coastal Erosion Vulnerability Assessment, Thorpeness

Working for a London based Architectural Practice, ICoastConsult completed a Coastal Erosion Vulnerability Assessment in accordance with East Suffolk Council Planning requirments.
